Worthy to be remembered – The Podcast
Spyros Dadanidis from Cool Crips converses with historian Iason Chandrinos and Ioanna Meitani from the Simeio: Researching & Confronting the Far Right on societal perceptions towards disabled people in the past and today.

On the occasion of the presentation of Iason Chandrinos’ historical research on the participation of disabled people in the National Resistance, as well as the mass extermination of disabled individuals as part of the eugenic “cleansing” of German society in Nazi euthanasia centers, the discussion opens on the forms that ableism takes today.
Iason Chandrinos examines eugenics and racist perceptions surrounding disability from a historical perspective, with their most extreme expression being the mass sterilization and extermination of disabled individuals in Nazi Germany.
Ioanna Meitani discusses contemporary forms of ableism and far-right ideology. The participants explore hate rhetoric, the normalization of ableist discourse, exclusionary policies, and modern tactics of “extermination” against disabled people today.
Following the significant impact of the live presentation of historical findings at the event “HOW (NOT) TO EXTERMINATE A DISABLED PERSON – then and now” on November 29, 2024, at Impact Hub Athens, and the rich discussion that followed, the following podcast was created. You can watch it with interpretation in Greek Sign Language here:
The program was implemented by liminal in collaboration with Simeio: Researching & Confronting the Far Right and historian Iason Chandrinos, and was funded by the German Federal Foreign Office through resources from the Greek-German Future Fund.
