Yes, We ART!

Facing the challenges: The Reality of Disabled Women in the Creative Industry

A vertical, colorful poster for the event "Yes, we ART!" featuring a bold, eclectic design. In the top right, the title stands out in vibrant purple letters on a mustard-yellow droplet. At the center of the image, a dancing woman is surrounded by abstract shapes and bright neon colors. Her body is mid-motion, arms outstretched to the sides, her head thrown back as her wild curls defy gravity, swirling upward. Around her head, the black outline of a magnifying glass draws extra focus to her face. Her neon-pink figure contrasts sharply against the multicolored background, filled with geometric patterns and shapes. Encased in a black frame that acts like a border, the event details appear in white text: *"Photography Exhibition Opening, Tuesday 24/06 at 19:00, 'O Choros' (The Space), Theater Square 6-8, Athens."* In the top right corner, the liminal logo—two diagonal parallel lines—completes the design.

In the framework of the European Program Empower Women—promoting gender equality—we invite you to the opening of the Photography Exhibition “Yes, We ART!” on Tuesday, 24 June, at 7:00 PM at O Choros, Theater Square 6-8, Athens.

Focusing on the challenges faced by women with disabilities in the workplace, liminal—in collaboration with photographer Tereza Stefanitsi—explores how they can engage with the creative industry, shedding light on both the barriers they encounter and their invaluable contributions. Through a photography exhibition hosted at O Choros until the end of summer, this project amplifies their voices and redefines inclusivity in art.

At the Exhibition Opening, the participating women will join us to share reflections from their personal journeys and to spark a dialogue on shaping a cultural space that truly includes everyone. We would be delighted to have you with us for this event and to hear your own stories in this open conversation.

About “Yes, we ART!”

On an iridescent background, a question written in thick purple letters dominates the bottom: "Is there culture without access to work?" The design of a black magnifying glass frames the image at the top right.

From April to September 2025, as part of the European Program Empower Women, participating countries (Greece, Cyprus, Italy, Portugal, Malta, Croatia) will organize parallel photography exhibitions. These will culminate in a final exhibition in Općina Mošćenička Draga, Croatia, from September 10-12, 2025, under the theme: “The complex connections between women and their work experiences through the lens of intersectionality”.

In Greece, the photography exhibition byliminalwill explore the theme through the lens of women with disabilities and Deaf women working in the cultural sector. Titled “Yes, we ART! Facing the Challenges: The Reality of Women with Disabilities in the Creative Industry,” the exhibition will feature portraits of five women in their work environments, accompanied by texts highlighting the challenges they face in their professional lives.

The exhibition will be hosted at O Choros from June 24th to August 31st, 2025, and will include Audio Description for blind and low-vision visitors.
