Urgent Christmas at SNFCC Lighthouse

With three beds mounted upright against the wall as a backdrop, eight people pose for the camera. Some appear to be wearing pyjamas and robes, others medical gowns, and others simple, everyday clothing in soft, pastel shades.

Christmas Stories come to life once again this year at the Lighthouse of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre (SNFCC)! liminal, faithful to its annual appointment, will be there on 27 and 28 December 2025, providing the Audio Description and Touch Tour for the performance “Urgent Christmas”.

On these dates, the performance will be accompanied by live interpretation in Greek Sign Language, while on 4 January it will be sensory-friendly.

Urgent Christmas

The theatrical group “syntechnia tou geliou” [guild of laughter] presents a a tender story about friendship, solidarity and the true magic of the holiday season, directed by Vassilis Koukalani. The music and songs are written by Spyros Grammenos and Annie Theochari.

Three young patients in the pediatric ward of a hospital find themselves away from home during Christmas holidays. Their loneliness and anxiousness lead them to a series of adventures they could have never imagined, with joy and play overturning every obstacle along the way.

A performance for the whole family that, through music, songs and “theater within the theater” invites us to see the world through the eyes of children: without prejudice, full of possibility, with the belief that every day can be special when we are “together”.

Because Christmas is not just a date on the calendar; it is the moment we choose to open our hearts up to others.

Accessibility in the performance

For another year, liminal is creating the Audio Description and Touch Tour for blind and visually impaired audiences. One hour before the performance we invite young audience members and their companions to explore the set and meet the characters of our story through touch!

A photograph taken from above shows three young people in pyjamas lying with their eyes closed on three beds in a row. Two young women are sleeping on the beds at either end, and a young man is on the bed in the middle. A Santa hat lies next to his pillow. On the right, the woman is hugging a large teddy bear and is wearing striped socks and pyjamas, while the woman on the left is wearing checkered pyjamas, a brown top, and yellow socks.
