Embodiments

From June 12 to 20, 2026, Kapnergostasio, Hellenic Parliament in Athens hosts Embodiments: Art, Atmospheres and Sensory Worlds – an exhibition that brings together artists, architects, researchers, advocates, and communities into a shared space for expression, dialogue, and exchange, through exhibits, workshops, panel discussions, and performances.

Poster titled “Embodiments – Art, Atmospheres & Sensory Worlds.” Set against a black background, small guitar pick-shaped dots reveal a multitude of colors within them, resembling strange geological formations. Arranged tightly next to one another in horizontal rows, they leave only narrow gaps through which the event information appears in fine white lettering.

Curated by Severino Alfonso and Loukia Tsafoulia (Synesthetic Research & Design Lab), the exhibition explores how the notion of access shapes and renegotiates space, placing neurodiverse perspectives and experiences at its core. It creates a shared platform for reconsidering how spaces are perceived, designed, and inhabited, and how the built environment can either amplify or constrain difference.

Rather than positioning access as a fixed goal or technical solution, it frames it as an ongoing cultural and spatial practice—one that emerges through dialogue, experimentation, and collective imagination. It is an invitation to curiosity, care, and creative exchange, engaging citizens, art, technology, and science in meaningful dialogue.

Exhibits and parallel events

The exhibition features the interactive installation Echoes, 16 digital video works and screenings, as well as exhibits of research and archival material by artists and researchers from Greece, USA, Canada, UK, Germany, Ireland, Egypt, and beyond.

In a room with white walls and soft, warm lighting, two women wearing summer tops stand facing each other, looking into one another’s eyes. The photograph captures a silent, intimate moment, like a fragment of an artistic performance.

Alongside the exhibition, a multi-layered public programme brings into dialogue diverse fields of knowledge, practices, and ways of perceiving the world. Structured around thematic strands — Practice, Culture, Lived Experience & Advocacy, and Research — it includes talks, discussions, live events, and workshops, as well as educational and research activities focusing on the arts and accessibility, inclusive design, technology, education, and policy-making.

liminal’s participation

liminal joins the public programme on Monday, June 15. In his talk Aesthetics of Access, Christos Papamichael, Director of liminal, will highlight accessibility as a creative condition that ctively shapes and advances the evolution of art itself.

He will also present the European project P.A.I.R. (Paving Accessible Inclusive Realities), along with the Creative Accessibility Methodology — a collaborative process in which accessibility is not an afterthought, but a driving force that shapes the artistic work from the very beginning.
