Dance: Between Access and Ecology

Familiarization workshop with the toolkit of the European SEED project

Demy Papathanasiou and Medie Megas are facilitating the workshop “Dance: Between Access and Ecology” on Friday, July 10, 2026, in Syros, as part of the 13th Akropoditi DanceFest, titled disabilities within.

In a slightly blurred photograph, bodies with and without wheelchairs move through the space. The lens focuses on the outstretched hand of a woman lying on the floor reaching toward the hand of a wheelchair user passing by her. In the upper left corner, a red frame displays the title “Dance: between accessibility and ecology,” and in the lower right corner, a mint-green frame contains the logos of liminal and l’eveilleur. In the lower left, the outline of a flower forms the logo of the SEED programme.

The workshop introduces artists, choreographers, and educators with and without disabilities to the toolkit of the European project SEED – Social and Ecological Engagement through Dance, offering practical tools and methodologies that combine ecological sustainability with accessibility.

How can we choreograph and teach dance today in ways that are both socially and ecologically responsible?
What is the intersection between ecological awareness and the principle of accessibility?
Can these two vital axes enrich our content, narratives, and methodologies?

In the workshop “Dance: Between Access and Ecology”, participants are introduced to a practical toolkit developed within the framework of SEED. They are invited to explore hands-on strategies and methodologies for creating more sustainable and inclusive choreographic processes.

The workshop encourages reflection on how we create, teach, and coexist through artistic practice.

In a high-ceilinged space with a black dance floor, four people wearing comfortable clothing are in motion. They are jumping, running, or moving their limbs across the floor with intensity, causing their extremities to blur in the camera lens. Water bottles, notebooks, and other objects scattered around the space suggest they may be warming up or rehearsing.

Who is it for?

The workshop is designed for artists, choreographers, and educators with or without disabilities, who wish to re-examine their creative and teaching practices through the lenses of ecological sustainability, accessibility, and social justice.

🔵 Participation is free.

You can reserve your place until May 31 by completing the form below.

The toolkit was developed by liminal (Athens, Greece) and l’éveilleur (Avignon, France) within the framework of the European project SEED – Social and Ecological Engagement through Dance, which is funded by the Erasmus+ programme.
