Screening of the film Severed at the Choros of liminal

On Tuesday, November 11th at 20:00, the liminal’s Choros will host a screening of the short film “Severed” by Jen Marlowe, with Greek subtitles. The documentary tells the story of Mohamad Saleh, an 18-year-old from Gaza who has lived through five major assaults on the Gaza Strip. In those attacks, he lost his home, family members, his best friends, and, at the age of 12, his leg.
A story of endurance and survival
The film follows Mohamad as he strives to rebuild his life, while also shedding light on the reality faced by thousands living with disabilities as a result of Israel’s ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza.
Through Mohamad’s eyes, the audience experiences both the pain and trauma endured by thousands in Gaza and their extraordinary resilience, strength, and determination to survive. The documentary illuminates the power of human solidarity and care that keep people standing even amid extreme violence.

A brief overview of the event
The screening is part of the “Linking Palestine and Disability Justice” campaign by Donkeysaddle Projects. Following the film, there will be a discussion with simultaneous interpretation in Greek Sign Language.
The screening is free with voluntary donations. All proceeds will support the distribution of Severed as well as monthly stipends for Mohamad and other members of the community in Gaza. A donation box will be available at Choros on the day of the event, and contributions can also be made online through this link.
As the genocide in Gaza continues silently amid a fragile ceasefire, so does the mass infliction of physical and psychological harm on Palestinians, an integral part of the genocidal strategy. Thousands of people are surviving with injuries, amputations, and deep physical and mental trauma, while access to medical care has been systematically destroyed and Israel continues to block the transfer and delivery of medical aid.
It is no coincidence that, while governments and the international community remain complicit in the genocide, incidents of ableist violence are increasing in Greece, further deepening social injustice and exclusion.
The screening of the documentary serves as a call for action and solidarity, a reminder of the need to stand against violence, defending life, dignity, and disability justice.
