In black letters above and below the photo, it reads: Who's driving Europe's transitions? I'm proud to be part of The Europe Challenge 2025/26!

We are delighted to announce liminal’s participation in The Europe Challenge 2025/26, a programme that unites libraries and communities across Europe to tackle the pressing challenges of today’s world.

In collaboration with the “Lillian Voudouri” Music Library of the Friends of Music Society, we will implement the project “Resonance: Music Appreciation for the D/deaf and Hard of Hearing“.

About the project

The goal of “Resonance: Music Appreciation for the D/deaf and Hard of Hearing” is to create a bridge with the D/deaf and hard of hearing community, placing inclusion and co-creation at its heart. The project tackles the community’s exclusion from music education and library services through the co-design of inclusive workshops and educational seminars, ultimately leading to the development of a reusable toolkit for cultural institutions.

At the same time, encourages a dialogue between Deaf culture and the musical world, creating new opportunities for access and meaningful participation.

Andreas Plemmenos represents liminal in The Europe Challenge 2025/26. He is a special education theatrologist and a writer. At liminal, he serves as Community Liaison and is responsible for the production and quality control of Accessibility Services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing people.

About The Europe Challenge

Launching in September, The Europe Challenge 2025/26: Libraries, Communities, Democracy is is a programme initiated by the European Cultural Foundation. It brings together libraries and communities to address Europe’s key transitions—social, digital, and green—by implementing creative solutions in their local areas.

From over 300 applications, 60 initiatives in 26 countries have been selected, bringing together residents, librarians, artists, activists, and civic groups to co-create local solutions with European relevance.

The 2025/26 edition is kindly supported by public funding through Arts Council England, Fondazione Cariplo, and the Scottish Library and Information Council.

  1. In music, reverb is the sound that occurs when notes bounce off surrounding surfaces, creating a rich and full effect. Unlike an echo, where each repetition is heard separately, reverb “blends” the sounds together, giving the piece the feeling of being played in a lively space with depth and vibrancy. ↩︎
